Why the "Annoying" Stickers? (The Truth About Wax Melt Labels)
Share
Grab a cuppa and get comfy, because we need to have a quick "behind the scenes" chat.
If you’ve ever bought my melts, you’ve probably noticed those big, crowded stickers on the back. They’re called CLP labels, and let’s be real: they aren't exactly "Pinterest-worthy." I spend so much time making my melts look and smell amazing, only to slap a giant warning label on the back.
I know, I know - they’re a bit of an eyesore. But there’s a good reason they’re there!
What actually is CLP?
CLP stands for Classification, Labelling, and Packaging. In plain English? It’s a legal requirement in the UK that tells you exactly what’s inside the wax.
Think of it like the ingredients list on a chocolate bar. Just like you’d want to know if there were nuts in your snacks, the law says I have to tell you if there are specific oils in your melts that could cause an allergic reaction.
"Is there something nasty in my melts?"
Absolutely not! I use the same high-quality oils I’ve always used.
The reason you see those "Warning" or "Caution" symbols isn't that the melt is dangerous; it’s because the concentrated fragrance oil used to make them has to be declared. Even natural stuff like lavender or lemon oil can cause a skin tingle for some people, so the government makes us list it all out.
What’s actually on the label?
If you squint at the back of your pack, you’ll see:
-
The Fragrance Ingredients: The specific bits that might trigger an allergy.
-
The Warning Symbols: Those little red diamonds (usually for "aquatic life" or "skin sensitivity").
-
My Contact Details: So you always know who made your goodies.
The Bottom Line
I’d love to just give you a pretty bag of wax and leave it at that, but I care about your safety (and staying on the right side of the law!).
By keeping those "annoying" stickers on there, I’m making sure that my small business is fully insured and compliant. It means you can sit back, relax, and enjoy your favourite scents knowing everything is 100% legit.
So, next time you’re popping a melt into your burner, have a quick read of the back. It’s there to keep you safe so you can get back to the important stuff: relaxing in a gorgeous-smelling home!
