Meet the Maker: The Story Behind Star Scents
I thought it was about time I stepped out from behind the wax melter and said a proper hello! If we haven’t met yet, I’m the person behind every hand-poured bar, every safety label, and every parcel that leaves Star Scents.
People often ask me how I ended up surrounded by fragrance oils and wax, and the truth is, it started from frustration with rubbish wax melts!
How it All Began
Like many of you, I’ve always been obsessed with home fragrance. There is something so special about lighting a burner after a long day and feeling that instant "ahhh" moment. Star Scents didn't start as a big business plan; it started as a hobby and a quest to create the perfect melt - one that actually lasted, used high-quality ingredients, and looked as good as it smelled.
The Learning Curve
I’ll be honest, the early days involved a lot of kitchen experiments! I spent months testing different waxes, from natural soy and sustainable rapeseed to scent-boosting paraffin, just to find the perfect blends. I wanted to make sure that when you buy a Star Scents product, you’re getting something that has been tested, retested, and perfected!
Beyond the Wax
While wax melts are my first love, my passion for fragrance led me into the world of bath and body products, too. Joining the Guild of Craft Soap & Toiletry Makers and getting my safety reports (CPSRs) in place meant I could offer you a full spa at home experience with total peace of mind.
Why I Love What I Do
The best part of this job isn't the making (though I do love a good pouring session!); it’s hearing from you. When I get a message saying a particular scent reminded you of your teenage years, or that a bar of soap that lasted forever was a refreshing change, it makes all the hard work worth it.
